In the 2018 Good Childhood Report, arguing with mothers was more strongly related to girls’ satisfaction with family life than boys’. There was no gender difference found in the effect of arguing with their fathers.

Generally, the quality of relationships with girls’ parents had a greater bearing on overall wellbeing than boys.
