Online Course: Understanding Society for Transport Analysis

What is the purpose of this course?

The materials provided in this course were specifically developed for transport analysts as part of the project Life Transitions and Transport Behaviour: Examining the relationship between life transitions and travel behaviour change, which was funded by the ESRC’s Secondary Data Analysis Initiative, Phase I

Who is this course suitable for?

The materials provide an ideal introduction into the design, data collection, structure, storage and data access opportunities offered by Understanding Society.

What will I learn?

The course is based on a series of examples using the statistical data analysis programme Stata and includes a demonstration of how Understanding Society data can be used to analyse individual level change in travel behaviour and the role of life events. Worked examples used in this course are modelled on the basis of the core Understanding Society course but make use of study content that is of particular interest to transport analysts.
