Call for questions: COVID-19 survey in 2021

The next waves of the COVID-19 web survey will be fielded in 2021. We welcome your views on key questions we should ask of participants next year, currently planned for the end of January and end of March.

The long-term content plan documents all the questions we have asked in 2020. We will continue to ask the core modules, so we have consistent measures of change in key domains throughout the COVID waves. But we are keen to pick up new key topics as the impact of the pandemic and efforts to address it have changed over time.

As before, the questionnaire will be limited to 20 minutes, so we must make difficult choices. We wish to prioritise questions that:

  • help researchers and policy makers understand the impact of COVID-19, and policies to address it, on the general population;
  • build on the longitudinal strengths of the Study, so links to data we have collected before or will collect in the future;
  • need to be collected ‘in the moment’ rather than being asked retrospectively;
  • are brief (and if possible tested on other surveys).

Please send your suggestions for content to be included – either requests to repeat existing modules or new topics –  in either the January or March surveys to covid@understandingsociety.ac.uk by 9 December 2020
