Understanding Society is calling for abstracts for a Changing Families mini-conference in March, the first of a series of events in 2021 to celebrate the release of 10 waves of data.

The conference will be held from 22-26 March 2021, curated by our Topic Champion for Families, Professor Brienna Perelli-Harris. We’re looking for papers that focus on family life, generational differences, partnership changes, parent and child relationships, the extended family, fertility, international comparisons and life stages. Depending on the level of interest, it may be possible to include papers on family and fertility during COVID-19.

Papers need to use data from Understanding Society, the British Household Panel Survey, the Understanding Society COVID-19 survey or other household panel studies.

The deadline for abstracts is Thursday 14 January.

The Changing Families mini-conference will be the first of several free events spread across the year, each one focusing on a specific topic. They will feature plenary speakers, paper sessions, discussions, workshops and training, along with time to network with other researchers.

The call for abstracts is open now on our conference website

Wave 10 of Understanding Society was released in late November 2020, and is available via the UK Data Service
