We are looking for new members of the Policy and Partnerships Forum – the group that helps us develop our work with the research community in the policy, commercial and non-profit sectors.

The Forum is an advisory group which supports the Study’s Scientific Leadership Team. It consists of policy experts and practitioners from different organisations who can offer a dynamic perspective on knowledge mobilisation, engaging new audiences, and optimising the impact of Understanding Society across government, business and charities. Bringing a passion for action, critical reflection and change, Forum members strategically guide Understanding Society’s engagement, influencing and impact activities.

What does the Policy and Partnerships Forum do?

As a Forum member you will:

  • advise on the general strategy for knowledge exchange and the opportunities for maximising the reach and impact of Understanding Society
  • provide a steer on knowledge exchange activities
  • provide specific advice on sectoral engagement and development
  • share experiences and insights on addressing complex social and economic issues
  • propose ideas on co-production and demand-led problem solving approaches
  • offer connections and pathways to potential individuals and organisations, and act as an ambassador on behalf of Understanding Society
  • provide comments when requested on consultation documents, reports or funding proposals prior to their submission to funding bodies or the Strategic Oversight Board.

The Forum meets twice a year. Forum members are consulted through email or task groups outside of the main meeting. Membership of the Policy and Partnerships Forum is a voluntary position, but members receive reasonable travel expenses for any in-person Forum meetings.
