The Understanding Society marital and cohabitation histories, also known as the partnership history file, contains information about partnership spells reported by adult participants in all Understanding Society and BHPS samples. The new edition includes information from Wave 15 of the Study.
The file has information about the start and end dates of all partnerships, i.e. marriages, civil partnerships and cohabiting as a couple. The dataset can be accessed via the UK Data Service. Full details on the partnership history file can be found in the user guide.
