Summary

The study uses longitudinal quantitative data to explore if recent ethnic minority entrepreneurs are ‘breaking out’ from traditional low skill, low growth industry sectors to higher growth sectors. We also explore if such break out is associated with improved quality of entrepreneurial opportunity, characterised here as increased earnings, reduced working hours and increased hourly earnings.
