Last job: Socio-economic Group
Socio-economic group (SEG) of last job. Code frame as on the BHPS. Includes minor categories of groups 1, 2 and 5 of the official SEG. Categories are numbered consecutively using integers only. Uncodable groups (SEG=17) are recoded to -9 “Missing or wild”. This is applicable to respondents who have not been in paid employment in the last week but were in paid employment in the past. This standard classification has been replaced by the NS-SEC (see JLNSSEC{3,5,8}_DV). This measure is computed for continuity using look-up files provided by the CAMSIS project website.
