Variable note:

This variable, ff_hsownd, is the value of hsownd carried forward from the past wave and it is used for routing specific questions.

Please note, that for parts of waves 10, 11 and 12, this variable, ff_hsownd, was set to missing, resulting in incorrect routing of questions that were based on the value of this variable. For example, instead of asking every household respondent whether they own or rent the accommodation (hsownd), that question is only asked of those who are either living at a different address in this wave (origadd=2) or their ownership status has changed since the previous wave (hsowndchk=2) or their previous ownership status was not known (ff_hsownd=missing). Similarly, the question hsowndchk is asked only of those who are living at the same address and prior ownership status is known (origadd=1 & ff_hsownd different from missing).

So, due to the error in ff_hsownd many respondents were not asked hsowndchk even though they were eligible based on the routing criteria and more respondents were asked the question, ff_hsownd (and other questions that used ff_hsownd in the routing criteria) than were eligible based on the question routing criteria. This issue has been resolved starting from wave 13.
