Socio economic group: present job

Socio-economic group (SEG) of current job. Coding frame as on the BHPS. Includes minor categories of groups 1, 2 and 5 of the official SEG. Categories are numbered consecutively using integers only. Uncodable groups (SEG=17) are recoded to [-9] “Missing or wild”. Current job refers to being in paid employment during the last week, even if respondent was away from work in that week. This standard classification has been replaced by the NS-SEC. This measure is computed for continuity using look-up files provided by the CAMSIS project website.
