Standard Occupational Classification 1990 (SOC 1990) of father’s last job in the country of birth before coming to the UK. Condensed 2-digit version. The classification is coded post-field using the respondent’s description of the job. From Wave 3 onward, job descriptions were first coded to the code frame of SOC 2010. Asked as part of the initial conditions module in the Immigrant and Ethnic Minority Boost Sample (from Wave 6 onwards).
