What is the difference between w_relationship and w_relationship_dv?

The variable w_relationship is available in the data file w_egoalt and represents the relationship of the “ego” (i.e., the person represented by the pidp) with the “alter” (i.e., the person represented by the apidp) as reported in the household grid part of the interview. But sometimes the information reported is not consistent within the household and/or across waves. For example, in Wave 1 person 1 is person 2’s parent while in Wave 5 person 1 is person 2’s child etc. This does not happen often, but in the few cases that this happens the data team checks for such inconsistencies and attempts to correct those. These checked and corrected values are recorded in the variables w_relationship_dv.
