In the original business case for Understanding Society, the Economic and Social Research Council set out the rationale and expectations for the Study. Nine key benefits were identified by the ESRC, which informed the design of Understanding Society and are used to measure our ongoing progress. The Annual Report includes a section on how we are meeting the benefits for the Study, looking in more detail at user numbers, disciplines engaging with the Study, and the impact Understanding Society has on the broader social science landscape.
Director of Understanding Society, Professor Michaela Benzeval, commented on the year, “Preparing the Annual Report gives a welcome opportunity to reflect on everything that has happened in 2022. As with previous years, it’s been busy with new data, new developments in survey methods, and a steady flow of new research papers coming from the Study’s data. Understanding Society is now well established as a vital source of information for researchers and analysts exploring life in the UK, and one of the leading data resources in the country.”
The Annual Report is also available in hard copy. If you would like to receive a printed version of the report please contact us.
