The latest dataset is now available from the UK Data Service.
The Understanding Society Calendar Year dataset 2021 is designed to enable cross-sectional analysis of individuals and households relating specifically to their annual interviews which took place in 2021. The dataset combines data collected in three waves of the Study – Waves 11,12 and 13.
The Calendar Year dataset has been produced from the same data collected in the main Understanding Society study and released as waves. Cross-sectional analysis using Calendar Year dataset can only involve variables collected in every wave. As the data files combine data collected in each of the three waves, analysis cannot be restricted to data collected in one wave in 2021.
EUL and Special Licence
The Calendar Year 2021 dataset is available in two versions – End User Licence (EUL) and Special Licence (SL). The SL version contains month and year of birth variables, instead of just age, more detailed country and occupation coding, and various income variables have not been top-coded.
User are advised to download the standard EUL version first, as this is suitable for most research requirements.
