Abstract
In policy circles, well-being is in the air. In November 2010, the British Prime Minister announced plans for the Office for National Statistics to develop official measures of wellbeing, observing that ‘prosperity alone can't deliver a better life’. Other national governments and international organisations are making similar extensions to the range of welfare indicators they produce and monitor.
