Question text:

We are interested in measuring hormones, for example cortisol and cortisone, which will tell us about any stress you might experience, and testosterone, which is a reproductive hormone. While we are interested in all of these hormones, cortisol is of particular interest because stress may be related to heart disease. The amount of these hormones released over time can be measured in hair. We would like to take a small sample of your hair for this reason. Please look over the following information and let me know if you have any questions. This is completely voluntary, but if you are willing for us to take a sample of your hair, we will give you a £5 voucher. GIVE THE PARTICIPANT THE HAIR SAMPLE COLLECTION INFORMATION SHEET AND EXPLAIN THE PROCEDURE COMPLETELY. ALLOW THEM TIME TO READ IT AND ASK YOU ANY QUESTIONS. IF THEY ARE UNABLE TO READ THE LEAFLET, GO THROUGH IT WITH THEM TO ENSURE THEY FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT THE MEASUREMENT INVOLVES. Are you willing to let me collect a hair sample?
