Using the Code Creator

Create your own Stata or R code to extract data from the main End User Licence Understanding Society dataset.

The Code Creator is accessible from each variable page, where you can save variables and build your custom dataset.

How to use the Code Creator

To use the tool, you should already have downloaded the EUL version of the Understanding Society main survey (SN6614).

1. Save variables Click Save on any variable page to add it to your list.
2. Open the Code Creator Access your saved variables via the Code Creator page.
3. Select variables and format Choose which variables to include and whether to generate Stata or R code.
4. Generate your code Click Generate code to create your syntax.

What the code does

The generated code creates a dataset containing:

• Your selected variables
• Common socio-demographic variables
• Cross-sectional and longitudinal weights

The dataset is at the individual level and can be refined further during analysis.

Saving your code

After generating your code, you can:

• Download it
• Copy it
• Use a retrieval link to return to it later
• Optionally receive the link by email

Note: You can generate code for up to 30 variables at a time.
