This workshop will explain why sample design and non-response should be taken into account in survey analysis and will demonstrate how to do this in Stata using Understanding Society data.
Course outline:
- How sample design and non-response can affect survey estimation;
- How appropriate analysis can correct for these effects;
- Weight variables and sample design variables on Understanding Society and how to use them;
- Example analysis of Understanding Society data using Stata.
Course Objectives:
After this course, participants will
- Have an understanding of the issues involved in analysing data from a survey with a complex sample design and differential non-response;
- Be familiar with the weight and sample design variables on Understanding Society;
- Know how to identify the appropriate weight to use for a particular analysis;
- Know how to use the weight and sample design variables in analysis.
